Adding Christmas Glitz to Your Home with Treetopia
So I want to preface this post by saying that I’m not usually the type of person who puts her Christmas tree up in mid-November, BUT when Treetopia asked if I wanted to be a part of 2019 Design Council I said HECK YES! Also, I would like to add that after I remembered how happy Christmas decorations make everyone, I am definitely here for the Christmas tree in November trend.
I also worked with Treetopia to create a festive NYE in (you can read more about that here). For this campaign, I was able to select a tree, garland and wreath from the Treetopia site to create my Christmas theme.
These are the items I chose:
7.5′ Prelit Snowy Spruce Flocked Artificial Christmas Tree with Clear Lights by Treetopia
26″ Prelit Tinkerbell Silver Artificial Christmas Wreath with Clear LED Lights by Treetopia
10′ Prelit Winter White Artificial Christmas Garland with Clear LED Lights by Treetopia
I briefly thought about choosing a pink tree (my dream), but I eventually decided that with a husband and two boys a flocked tree might be a better option haha. I picked the Winter White garland to go with the tree, and the sliver wreath to add a little glitz. I’ve never been a huge fan of primary colors or the traditional Christmas colors so I opted to decorate the tree with muted metallic ornaments (think muted silver, gold and pink). I love the combination of the three and it was my way of throwing a little pink into the mix without being too over-the-top.
I have to admit, I was a little bit nervous about putting a tree together and decorating it with a six-week-old and a five-year-old. I’m happy to report that I was able to put on a baby carrier and get it all done. The tree came in three sections which were all numbered so it made it super easy to put it together in the right order. My hubby did help connect the cords, but the instructions were really helpful and there were even troubleshooting tips.
The Tree
I was immediately so impressed by the tree. I mean, it’s absolutely beautiful. When it comes to artificial trees I have to say that flocked and pre-lit are the way to go. I always get frustrated with tangled lights and trying to space them out evenly so the fact that this tree was pre-lit made decorating SO MUCH EASIER. With the quick set trees, light strings within the trunk are automatically connected while setting up so you can light your tree with a single plug! The 7.5′ Foot tree was the perfect size for our house (any taller and it wouldn’t have fit haha). Since the majority of our home is now covered in legos and baby gear, the tree’s slim silhouette was perfect for our living room. I added some metallic tinsel garlands and a combination of glittery and matte metallic ornaments and we were good to go! I wanted to keep it simple yet glitzy and it turned out perfectly. Now I just have to explain to my five-year-old why his tractor ornament doesn’t fit the tree’s aesthetic, but that’s what mini trees are for right?!
The Wreath
I also got the silver wreath last year so I now have two to place around the house! It definitely adds some glitz and glam to any space and there are so many options when deciding where to put it. The wreath comes with clear pre-lit LED lights, and the best part is that they’re battery operated so you can put the wreath indoors or outdoors. It pairs beautifully with our white garland but it looks gorg on it’s own too. I added an adhesive hook to the window near my office space so I was able to spruce the space up with the silver wreath. I love a good vintage vibe so I put another silver wreath above my pink record player that was on a faux fur rug with a glittery garland. I prefer my wreath plain but if you’re feeling extra festive, you can add bows or tiny ornaments to your wreath!
The Garland
I have a gorgeous pink garland from last year so I was already familiar with how amazing they are. The Winter White is so pretty and I love that it’s also pre-lit (I love the way it looks unlit too). It has a sturdy metal wire frame and mounting hooks which make it a breeze to put up. It’s amazing quality so it will be a part of your holiday decor year after year. I tried it out in both the living room area above a window and in my office space above a window. Wherever it was, it added the perfect holiday touch.
A few ideas for where to place your garland:
- Staircase
- Above a window or doorframe
- Mantle
- Office
- On top of a bookcase or shelf
- In children’s room
Our Christmas tree and decor are going to be the perfect spot for holiday photos over the next few weeks so I made sure to snap a few photos of my boys in matching holiday PJs by the tree. I hope these photos give you some inspo when it comes to taking holiday photos with your decor!
