Defying Convention with Reebok Sole Fury

I’ve always been one to do things a bit differently than everyone else. Growing up I thought I was just weird, but I’ve come to see that as a strength as I’ve gotten older. Now that I have a son, I always want to make sure to teach him to defy convention and walk his own unique path in life. I am so excited to partner with Reebok for their #SplitFrom campaign, featuring their Sole Fury shoes.
Reebok first introduced the SPLIT CUSHIONING SYSTEM in the early 90s as an innovative way to remove weight and add flexibility to their footwear. The Sole Fury is the modern re-up of the Split Cushion proposition. I was so surprised at how lightweight the shoes were when I took them out of the box, and I loved the pops of neon color.
Finding My Passion-Again
After having my son, I basically stopped doing the majority of the things that I loved prior to becoming a mom. My world revolved around my son and nothing else seemed as important as him. Now that he’s 4 I’m finally trying to get back to doing things that I’m passionate about. I used to love reading, working out, writing, fashion and going to rap concerts. Even thought those things may seem trivial, they made me happy.
After my son turned two I went back to work. I have a background in fashion and this job was in a completely different industry-one that I was not a fan of. I quickly realized that it wasn’t going to fulfill me creatively so I started using Instagram as a creative outlet. It started out as a way for me to post photos of my son’s cute outfits and eventually evolved into me building a personal brand.
I thought it would just be fun to take pictures and wear pretty clothes, but I never expected to meet so many amazing women along the way. I love fashion, writing and photography and blogging encompasses all of those things. Somewhere along the way I discovered that my true passion lies in creating community and empowering other women.
Defying Convention
By all means I have less free time than ever before, but my passion for what I do allows me to be more productive than I ever was before. I have been at a different job for about a year now, and it’s a much better work environment. I work full-time, write blog posts, take photos, edit them, plan out captions and work on campaigns whenever I can. People always say “I don’t know how you do it all,” or “I could never do that.” It’s funny because when I was just working a full-time job (before I started blogging) I definitely had a shorter to-do list but I wasn’t fulfilled.
I probably look crazy dragging my tripod and my toddler to take pictures in front of pink psychic stands and abandoned laundromats, but I freaking love it. Most of my family and friends have no idea what I do as my side hustle or how much work goes into it. Blogging is definitely not uncommon nowadays, but whenever I create new content I try to defy convention. I still do things differently just like I always have ,but now it works to my advantage-usually. I started blogging a year ago, and I cannot believe how many amazing opportunities that have come my way. I never would have thought that I would be working with companies like Reebok, and I truly believe it’s due to that fact that I’ve found ways to set myself apart.

It’s been a long time since this momma has had a pair of Redbox (20 years ago), and they weren’t as lightweight back then. I’m needing a pair of comfy running shoes to chase after my toddler. Will check these out. I understand completely where you are coming from about switching gears and doing something you love. I’m doing the same after 18+ years in the PR world. Time for a change!
