PB Chocolate Chip Protein Bites
Super simple, no-bake PB chocolate chip protein bites. Anyone who knows me, or follows me on Instagram knows that I have a huge sweet tooth. I try to create healthier versions of desserts I love like these vegan chocolate chip cookies and these secretly healthy pancakes, but this weekend I found myself looking for a simple and healthy way to satisfy my cravings for sweets. I usually reach for something sweet or chocolate-y at work after having lunch, but the girl scout cookies and chocolate covered almonds are not working for me anymore. I decided to make some protein bites that I can just toss in my bag before work, and I’ll even be able to pack them in Gray’s lunch. Peanut butter and chocolate are pretty much my favorite combination ever and I try to combine the two ingredients as much as possible.
I made two batches of these protein bites. One was a vegan batch that Gray could have and the second batch had some Good Products protein powder for me. The ingredients are simple, and I had all of them on hand already. Honey, peanut butter, rolled oats, hemp hearts, ground flax seeds (I talk about how to make flax eggs for baking here), vegan chocolate chips and optional protein powder. That’s all you need people!
I try to use my favorite protein powder whenever I can, so this was no exception. I’m obsessed with this product because not only does each serving contain 16 grams of protein, but it also contains 22 vitamins and minerals. Here’s a quick breakdown of some of the benefits the Good Slim Body Protein provides:
Key Ingredients
- Vitamin B12: So important for brain development and cognitive function (goodbye mom brain). It also helps protect against neurological disease and aging
- Biotin: I’m sure most of you take this supplement to help you have healthy hair, skin and nails. I bet you didn’t know it also helps convert carbs into energy.
- Green tea leaf extract: It’s no secret that green tea has amazing benefits. It improves mental alertness, supports metabolic rate, helps burn fat and boosts antioxidant levels.
The peanut butter adds some healthy fat (and it’s delicious obviously). Flax seed is one of the richest sources of plant-based omega-3 fatty acids, and it’s known to improve digestion, give you clearer skin, reduce sugar cravings, balance hormones and even fight cancer.
Hemp seeds hearts are one of my favorite toppings for smoothie bowls, salads, toast or oatmeal. I basically add them to anything that I can because they contain essential fatty acids (Omega 3, 6 GLA) in the perfect balance and they a more digestible protein than animal byproducts.
I love having these protein bites in the fridge or with me at work when I want to eat something sweet. They’re a much better alternative to baked goods or processed foods. My favorite part about them is that they’re so easy to whip up, and it’s a fun activity to do with your little ones too! I hope you guys enjoy this recipe! Let me know what you think!
