Prose Hair Review
I recently got to create and try my very own customized hair products, and I am still so freaking excited about it so I wanted to share my experience with you guys.
First of all, I want to disclose that these products were complimentary in exchange for my honest review. As always, all opinions are my own.
I had heard about Prose before, and was dying to try it. In this post I talked about how I recently got my hair done. Because I did get it colored, my locks were in need of some TLC. I love the concept of customizable hair products, and I’m a sucker for good packaging so it seemed like a match made in heaven.
The Consultation
When I went on the Prose website, I was prompted to enter basic contact information before starting my consultation. I was asked general questions like age, what my hair looks like when it’s wet and how long my hair is. They got into more detail and asked if my hair is dry, how long it takes it to get oily and whether or not my hair has been colored. In the lifestyle portion of the questions I was asked which products and tools I use to style my hair (I use a straightener, curling iron and dry shampoo), what my diet is like (mainly vegetarian). They asked what activities I participate in on a weekly basis and if I’m exposed to cigarette smoke or stress. I found it really interesting that they asked for the zip code I will be spending most of my time in for the next 3 months-this is so they know the type of environment I will be in so they can tailor the products based on humidity, water quality, pollution and UV. I’m near LA so Lord knows the air quality isn’t the best.
Hair Goals
Next I was asked about my hair goals. There was a sliding scale-0 being natural and 10 being extra, so you know I chose extra for most of them haha. At the time, I had set a goal to wear my hair naturally more often so I wanted something that would help tame my natural curls. One of my favorite parts was picking the scent. I chose fruitissime, which is a pineapple, coconut vanilla scent. I also had the option of making my products vegan, gluten-free and/or silicone free.
The Breakdown
After answering all of the questions (which were pretty extensive), I was given a breakdown of my hair and scalp characteristics. On the next screen, they showed the ingredients their experts had picked JUST FOR ME! Not only did they list the ingredients, but they also included the reason they picked them. Prose created a customized shampoo, conditioner and hair mask for me. The price would have been about $103 for all three products.
The Products
When my Prose package arrived, I was downright giddy. Like I said earlier, the packaging was amazing-the products even had my name on them! They smelled like a Hawaiin vacation and I could not wait to use them. The shampoo and conditioner were the perfect texture, and I loved how thick and moisturizing the mask was.
Why I love the products:
- Paraben-free
- Sulfate-free
- GMO and dye-free
- Cruelty-free
- Formulas are made fresh to order in NYC and customized for YOU specifically
My Honest Review
I have been using these products for several weeks now (I wanted to make sure I used them for at least a month before sharing my review). I can honestly say that I notice a big difference in the health of my hair. It’s less frizzy, more manageable, smoother and smells AMAZING. I would have to say my favorite product of the three is definitely the hair mask. I live for a good hair mask, especially because my hair is pretty dry, and this mask is one of my favs. I have been able to wear my hair curly more often without feeling like it’s a frizzy mess. When I style it, it looks so much healthier now.
I absolutely love how detailed the consultation was because it made me confident in the fact that these products would be perfect for my exact hair type-and they were. The products are a little pricey, but they’re worth it. I usually mix several different conditioners to get the desired result, but with the Prose products I didn’t need to mix anything in. I also want to mention that a little bit goes a LONG way with these products. Since I only wash my hair every few days, I think they will last around 4-5 months. Overall the quality of the products are amazing and I would definitely recommend them. I hope this review was helpful if you guys are thinking of trying them out! Feel free to let me know if you have any questions!

These products sound like an absolute God-send for out hair! I love the idea of customizable care, and they really seem to go intro great detail with it. Any idea if they ship to Europe?
