Intuitive Skincare with For the Biome
Skincare is one of my fav forms of self care, but lately it’s been hard to keep up with an extensive skincare routine. We’ve all heard of intuitive eating, but have you heard of intuitive skincare? I switch up the products I use often based on how my skin is looking and feeling so when I discovered For the Biome, I knew it was right up my alley.

I’ve been using their 100% active skincare products for a couple of weeks and I’ve been pleasantly surprised to see that I haven’t had to use a ton of products or use them super often to see results. Their products have honestly changed my perspective on skincare and it’s been nice giving my skin a bit of a break.
I love that their products are food-grade-meaning they’re safe enough to eat. I’ve been making a huge effort to use cleaner products and I’m so impressed that For The Biome uses whole ingredients that support the health of my skin’s microbiome-which is something that I think gets overlooked by most people when it comes to skincare.
Something really interesting that I learned is that just because your skin looks good, it doesn’t mean it’s healthy. Most skincare products manipulate the appearance of your skin and aren’t supporting the health of your barrier function and skin’s microbiome. For The Biome’s approach views products as a booster, not a crutch, allowing you to maintain glowing results even without regular day + night use of products.
A little background before giving a breakdown of the products I’ve been using: For The Biome was founded by Master Herbalist Paul Schulick and long-time meditation teacher Barbi Schulick. They view skincare from a mind-body perspective and I love that they include a meditation on every product.
Products
This is such a versatile product and features a patented aloe vera that’s been clinically studied to increase skin hydration by 100% within an hour of use. You can add equal parts water and powder to create a paste or add a bit more water for a milkier texture.
This can be used when your skin is feeling dry or instead of a moisturizer or cleanser every now and then. It features 5 types of fermented mushrooms: reishi, lion’s mane, chaga, maitake, and king trumpet. It leaves skin feeling dewy, brightens and tones, and even helps protect from the aging effects of blue light radiation (from phone and computer screens).
This is the ultimate multi-tasker and my personal fave. It combines a serum and moisturizer into one step and can be used after the Essence Spray to seal in hydration. It visibly improves skin tone and texture while protecting it from blue light radiation.
I’m also a big fan of the Tool Kit, which comes with a handcrafted ceramic bowl, bamboo spoon, and makeup removing cleansing cloth. Your first purchase of any powder or set that includes a powder comes with a free Tool Kit.
