Jax’s Little Cutie Themed 1st Birthday
This year has been a crazy one, so Jax’s 1st birthday definitely snuck up on me. I started looking for birthday themes on Pinterest a couple of months ago, but didn’t really find anything that stood out to me. I finally came across the Little Cutie theme and knew it was perfect. After looking on Etsy I found this adorable Little Cutie 1st birthday bundle (keep in mind that the bundle does come from Ukraine so make sure to allow at least 3-4 weeks for shipping). Because of everything that’s going on in the world, I assumed we would probably just be celebrating Jax’s birthday at home, but I still wanted to decorate and take some special photos of the day.
His actual birthday came so quickly that I didn’t have much time to plan anything. My husband had work that day so I just blew up a bunch of balloons and we gave Jax a couple of gifts before he left for work. Later that night we ordered food and sang Jax happy birthday and it was simple and perfect. I was definitely disappointed that I didn’t do more but life has been so chaotic lately and I’ve been trying to give myself more grace.
Our families still wanted to celebrate Jax’s birthday so one of my sisters suggested throwing something small at my mom’s house. I would have more time to plan, and we would get to celebrate with our families so it was perfect. We decided to just invite our immediate family and a few friends to keep it small. I want to preface this by saying that it wasn’t a Pinterest perfect party but I love how it all came together.
I started out by ordering a few things on Amazon:
We ordered a jumper for the kids to play in. For food we got ceviche, aguachiles, pizza, and had nachos (random I know haha). It was a super hot day so we made a big container of citrus infused water (so on theme), we also had lots of juices, beer, white claws and the best chamoy.
As far as decorations, I had my little sisters put together the balloon garland (which we actually didn’t really have a place to put so we winged it), I used the party bundle decorations I ordered from Etsy, mylar citrus balloons, my mom and I both got lots of fresh flowers and of course I bought a ton of cuties to put in rattan baskets and on the tables. This is the high chair that we have (it’s amazing), and I love how it looked with the high chair banner and balloons. We used my mom’s beautiful tree to place the gift table and decorations so we had two different areas for photos.
I ordered a funfetti cake from a local Cuban bakery called Merengue, but I asked for plain white frosting because I wanted to decorate it myself. My mom and sisters were so confused when they picked up a plain white cake, but I assured them that I had a plan haha. I decorated with artificial leaves, babys breath, a sunflower, a few cuties and the cake topper that came with the party bundle from Etsy. I was planning on making Jax a vegan smash cake, but wanted to make the day as stress-free as possible so I I just ordered a few vegan cupcakes for Whole Foods and that’s what we gave him after we sang happy birthday.
Jax had the best time celebrating and seeing family and friends and I’m so glad we were able to celebrate his first birthday. I’m so grateful for everyone who came to celebrate our sweet boy, helped set up and put everything together.
If you have any questions about anything, feel free to ask!
